Planting and Location
Before getting into planting your Lychee tree, you need to establish a time and location for your Lychee tree. The best time to plant your Lychee tree would be in spring when cold spells and freezing weather is not there to harm your Lychee tree. This will not be an issue if you’re living in tropical and subtropical climates. Lychee trees require plenty of water daily for the first three weeks of their life but it is only afterwards that you need to water your plants when rain is very short. Otherwise, you should not water your Lychee trees.
An appropriate location for your Lychee tree is important if you’re hoping to yield Lychee fruit. Lychee trees require plenty of good sunshine levels for good fruit growth. Make sure you plant Lychee trees far away from any other trees and plants in your garden that may block any sunshine. Soil that is acidic is widely preferred by Lychee trees with a pH balance of around 5.5 to 6.5 at best. You also have to be careful of wind as this can be a risk for your Lychee tree. Strong or even light to moderate winds can easily damage the Lychee tree. Wind can affect the growth of a small Lychee tree before it can actually mature. So always be careful as to where your Lychee tree will live and the appropriate location of the tree that would protect your young tree from any wind.

Fertilizer and Pruning
Organic fertilizers made from compost, kelp or seaweed can help Lychee trees by giving the soil more nutrients. Never use artificial fertilizers as these can burn the roots of the Lychee tree and kill beneficial organisms within the soil that can help improve the health of the root system.
You need to prune any new Lychee trees in your garden. Remove any excess foliage to help the root system for healthier growth. You could also try pruning after harvest which significantly yields an increased rate of fruits and vegetables in the long term. Pruning can always help your Lychee tree by reducing the amount of energy required for new shoots.

Earthworms
Earthworms are very important creatures to the soil food web. Earthworms provide natural organic matter when they die. They increasingly help the recycling of nutrients in the soil by altering soil structure, water filtering, plant growth and stimulating microbial activity. Earthworms are useful creatures for providing enough space and nutrients further down the soil for root growth when trees grow into their mature state. Most of the time, having earthworms in the soil is natural. However, if you’re living in an area where earthworms are scarce, purchase them online or shop where they sell gardening tools and equipments.
